Letter from Erasmus Darwin to Matthew Boulton, 1778/02/04
Darwin enquires after the Kauffmann prints.
—————————————-
Dear Boulton,
Not having heard of you for so many moons has induced me to think you are dead – pray send me word that I may begin your epitaph – if you are still alive I design to visit you next Sunday but one, (which I believe to be the 15th) if it is agreable and convenient and if Mr Keir will visit you at the same time.
I sent a plate-order, which I hope was received. – And I hope you will direct the Mrs Koffman’s four prints of graces to be framed for me at your manufactory – which prints I hope are long since arrived.
– Pray desire Mr Keir to give me a line, or yourself, to know if you will give us room and dinner as above.
Adieu with best compl. to Mrs Boulton
